There’s no doubt about it—the 20,000 acres of land comprising Palmetto Bluff is some of the most spectacular real estate in the Lowcountry. Field + Fire – February 1-3, 2019

Palmetto Bluff was purchased in 1902 by New York banker Richard T. Wilson, Jr., who initially planned to establish a hunting estate on the land. Needless to say, sporting life is a big part of Palmetto Bluff’s heritage! The Field + Fire weekend carries on this rich tradition by providing a variety of curated field sports, art exhibitions, and sporting dog exhibitions designed with the outdoor enthusiast in mind. Of course, guests will also enjoy the best of Southern cuisine throughout the weekend.

Conservancy Lectures for the month of February

From the very inception of the Palmetto Bluff community, the preservation and protection of one of South Carolina’s finest Lowcountry landscapes has been at the forefront of every developmental decision made. The Palmetto Bluff Conservancy was established to educate and inform the community about the importance of safeguarding the natural resources of this incredible area. Dedicated to this endeavor, the Conservancy invites the public to a regular series of lectures and luncheons aimed at sharing the vibrant history of not only Palmetto Bluff, but the Lowcountry at large.

Opportunities in February are as follows:

February 1, 2019 – First Friday

Lecture: Dragonflies

Time and Location: 6 – 7 p.m. in the Conservancy Classroom

February 13, 2019 – Brown Bag Lunch

Lecture: Introduction to Archaeology

Time and Location: 12 – 1 p.m. in the Conservancy Classroom

February 27, 2019 – Brown Bag Lunch

Lecture: Hurricanes of Beaufort’s Past

Time and Location: 12 – 1 p.m. in the Conservancy Classroom

The Conservancy at Palmetto Bluff

Palmetto Bluff Marathon – March 10, 2019

Set among spectacular maritime forest views, the Palmetto Bluff Marathon, Half-marathon, and 10K run all start at the center of this vibrant community: Wilson Village. The races benefit the aforementioned Palmetto Bluff Conservancy, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Proceeds are used to protect and preserve the beautiful natural resources of this place we call home!

The Marathon course is a complete loop that is both USATF-certified and a Boston Marathon Qualifier. The Half Marathon is also USATF-certified, and the 10K course is stroller-friendly.

After crossing the finish line, head over to the After Party to congratulate yourself on a day well spent. With live music, free beer, and a barbeque sandwich for all participants, it’s sure to be a fun affair! Awards will be presented at this time and the prizes are amazing. The first place winner overall for males and females will receive a 2-day/1-night stay at Montage Palmetto Bluff, the second place winner overall will receive a Palmetto Bluff $200 gift certificate, and the third place winner overall will receive a $100 Palmetto Bluff gift certificate. The first place winner in each age division will also receive a reward. Pull out those running shoes and get registered right here!
