This famous Hilton Head restaurant, located on Broad Creek, lives up to its name. The history of The Old Oyster Factory dates back to the early 1900s, when Broad Creek’s oyster beds were ripe for the picking. The Broad Creek Oyster Factory was established in 1925, but the area surrounding the factory was declared protected in the 1990s, leaving the building empty and the cannery defunct. Where a chapter ends, a new one begins! Expanded from a one-story concrete building to the expansive restaurant it is today, The Old Oyster Factory now serves as a hub for delicious food, Lowcountry tradition, and gorgeous views.

If you are familiar with Hilton Head, you have probably heard of Hudson’s. Even those who have never visited the island have had the opportunity to see this Lowcountry gem featured in Coastal Living and other popular media networks. The restaurant originated in the early 1900s as a seafood processing plant. The Hudson family owned and operated the factory until 1975, when the Carmines family took ownership and forged the way for a new family tradition built on bringing in the best catch and delivering up delicious meals daily. In fact, you can actually watch as the Hudson’s fishing fleet—the largest on the island—brings in the catch straight from the harbor to your plate. You’re not likely to find such a perfect combination of habit-forming hushpuppies, fresh seafood, and gorgeous harborside views anywhere else in the Lowcountry. 1 Hudson Road Hilton Head, Hilton Head, SC 843-681-2772

Between their indoor Dive Bar, summertime Beer Garden, general store with local Lowcountry goods, and their Marker 13 Buoy Bar with a gorgeous sunset view, you’ll want to come back time and time again.
