There are plenty of trails for hiking, biking, walking, and horseback riding that are perfect for families or groups of friends looking to get outside and enjoy nature in Palmetto Bluff. At the top of our list is the River Road Preserve which is located right in Palmetto Bluff. This 120-acre riverfront park is protected in a conservation easement with the North American Land Trust and allows members to enjoy unparalleled beauty right in their own backyard. Other popular preserves to visit in the vicinity include Victoria Bluff Heritage Preserve/Wildlife Management Area and Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge. Each locale provides a unique experience—Victoria Bluff has over 1,100 acres of trails under a canopy of trees, and Pinckney Island is a protected area full of unbridled coastal wildlife. A wide variety of wildlife can be seen at each location as well, including wild turkey, aquatic birds, and white-tailed deer. With miles of trails in and around Palmetto Bluff, you’ll never be short on experiences in nature!

Nestled in the heart of Palmetto Bluff, Longfield Stables is a full-service equestrian center that offers boarding services to Palmetto Bluff members. The luxe, spacious stalls provide room for even the loftiest four-legged friends, and with 10 miles of trails to choose from, owners will find opportunities galore to saddle up and enjoy the Lowcountry. The club also hosts competitive shows and events for resident horse enthusiasts to showcase their abilities.

If you want to enjoy a day on the water, Wilson’s Landing provides opportunities for both beginners and experienced water sport enthusiasts. Top-quality boats can be reserved in four-hour blocks, allowing ample time to explore the beautiful May River. Next door to Wilson’s Landing is the Canoe Club and Outside Palmetto Bluff, which offers kayak and canoe rentals, dolphin tours, and stand up paddleboard rentals. A public dock is conveniently located nearby, which makes it easy to meet up with friends boating to the Bluff for the day from Hilton Head or other neighboring communities.

From charming shops and restaurants to independent boutiques and art galleries, Wilson Village is a wonderful place to walk around, shop, and dine with friends and family. A local favorite is RT’s Market, which has been serving up fresh gourmet food and friendly service for years. The market offers a mix of grocery essentials and prepared foods that are made daily on-site. At River House, diners can enjoy exquisite land-and-water-to-table inspired Lowcountry cuisine. For special occasions visit Octagon, an award-winning restaurant located in the Montage Palmetto Bluff that serves up prime beef tartare, caviar, king salmon rillette, and other fine fare. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Buffalo’s is the place to go for delicious Italian dining. In the mood for a refreshing treat the whole family will enjoy? Don’t miss Melt, an ice cream shop that serves up floats, sundaes, and scoops of southern specialty flavors. If you are up for some shopping, Palmetto Bluff has many boutiques offering everything from clothing to artisanal goods. There’s always something exciting happening at Wilson Village!
