If you’re looking for a way to impress and/or express your affection for your favorite lady or guy on Valentine’s Day, look no further than any quote from the movie The Notebook. Still considered one of the most romantic movies of all time, this epic love story was filmed mostly on location in our beautiful state of South Carolina! What better way to lay the groundwork for a day of love spent in the Palmetto State, right?

 

But that’s just the starting point. We’ve put our heads together to come up with some romantic ways to spend Valentine’s Day 2020 in the Lowcountry. Read on for ideas that range from informal to fashionable, and everything in between.

Who says romance has to cost an arm and a leg (not to mention lots of cash)? Take a stroll with your beloved around Beaufort, South Carolina, a charming town bursting with history and southern charm. Our suggested Valentine’s itinerary includes rambling down streets lined with centuries-old life oaks and enjoying the sunset from the beautifully landscaped Henry C. Chambers waterfront park. Be sure to check out local confectionery The Chocolate Tree while you’re there and pick up a treat (or four) for your sweetheart. Their fine chocolates are made on-site!

Charlie’s L’etoile Verte

Palmetto Bluff offers an amazing series of chapel concerts, and the February 13 presentation featuring live acoustic music from the duo behind.

Congress Street Up Speakeasy

Love is certainly not a crime at this unique Savannah spot! Serving up authentic prohibition-style libations, this innovative establishment, which is located within the American Prohibition Museum, just might be the way to toast your special valentine. Known for its enticing cocktails and quiet, romantic atmosphere, this 20s-styled speakeasy is rated one of the hottest bars in Savannah.
