Last year, many planned July 4th activities were canceled in light of COVID-19. However, with much of the population now vaccinated, residents and visitors to the Lowcountry can expect more summer events and activities to enjoy with the family this year! (You may still need to bring along your mask and social distance for some events, so keep that in mind.)

Here are a few ways you can celebrate Independence Day in the Lowcountry:

The 35th Annual Hilton Head Firecracker 5K is back! Celebrate the holiday with this family-friendly walk/run in Jarvis Creek Park, starting at 8 am. What better way to burn off the calories before all the BBQ later in the day?

Of course, you’re welcome to stick around for the Firecracker 5K afterparty; enjoy music, snacks, ice-cold refreshments, and more. The kiddos can even participate in the Children’s Fun Run!

Kids can enjoy bouncy houses, face painting, and more at Shelter Cove Community Park during the 2021 Summer Jams series, back this year and happening every Tuesday from June 8th to August 10th.

While there is no event scheduled for July 4th, residents and visitors can still swing by on a Tuesday for a fun-filled summer evening with the family. Then, at the end of the night, set up a few lawn chairs or a picnic blanket to watch the fireworks!

Gregg Russell Fourth of July Concert

You read it right; Hilton Head Island icon, Gregg Russell, will be taking the stage the evening of July 4th at Sea Pines Liberty Oak, hosted by Sea Pines Resort!

For the safety of guests and staff, the resort will be spreading out and making distanced benches available. You’re welcome to bring your own folding chairs or picnic blankets to sit in the lawn area nearby too. Additionally, because children will be allowed on stage this year, the microphones they will share will be sanitized after each use.

Have other plans for July 4th? Don’t worry; Gregg Russell will be performing throughout the summer through Labor Day weekend!
