Where to Eat in Palmetto Bluff

Octagon

Located in the Montage, Octagon provides farm-to-table specialties with a charming, southern ambiance. This quaint yet elegant restaurant serves classic Carolina cuisine, with seasonal ingredients to ensure the freshest plates. Start with a southern classic appetizer of fried green tomatoes, then choose from a diverse menu of local meat and seafood offerings. Octagon Bar is another draw to this establishment. The friendly atmosphere is met with exceptional cocktails, locally crafted beers, and their signature Artillery Punch. Octagon is open daily from 7am-10pm, with a quick closure between serving lunch and dinner (between 3-5pm). Reservations are not required but are recommended as this is a popular spot among locals and visitors alike.

River House

Another exquisite Montage dining experience, the River House is an upscale restaurant paired with gorgeous views of the May River. The space was recently renovated to feature stunning floor-to-ceiling windows that blur the line between the indoors and outdoors. What sets this restaurant apart is its grandeur; in fact, River House has a business casual dress code. An impeccable wine list of over 2,500 labels accompanies a delectable menu of locally sourced food. Choose from an array of fresh land or sea plates and decadent appetizers like caviar or oysters. River House is open Tuesday through Saturday from 5-10pm, and reservations are recommended.

Melt

Satisfy your sweet tooth at Wilson Village’s ice cream parlor! This delightfully inviting spot serves everything from small batch Southern ice cream to sundaes to shakes to brownies and more. Combine these sweet treats with a bright, welcoming environment and you might never want to leave—and that goes double for your kids! You can swing by between 2-8pm any day except Monday, when Melt is closed. Our recommendation? Beat the South Carolina heat with a signature scoop of Banana Pudding, Charleston Sea Turtle, or Carolina Peach.

Cole’s Lowcountry Tavern

Open to Palmetto Bluff Club members and their guests, Cole’s is a family-friendly restaurant with a cozy yet chic lodge feel. Amenities like bowling, billiards, and a pool are paired with tasty Lowcountry comfort food. Enjoy a relaxing evening in true southern style—lounging by the fire with Cole’s brisket and homemade banana pudding. You currently need a reservation to dine at Cole’s, so be sure to secure one in order to spend a night with good company and good food. Cole’s is open from 5-9pm Wednesday through Sunday.

RT’s Market

A quick Google search of RT’s Market may reveal its categorization of “gas station,” however, this sophisticated yet inviting market far exceeds any gas station we’ve ever encountered. Perhaps a more accurate description is an upscale market reminiscent of an old-timey general store. Here you can purchase quality meat and seafood for a meal, grab a quick snack, enjoy a homemade pastry, or pick up a bottle of fine wine. If you’re stopping by between adventures, you’ll find a wide variety of unique selections. If you’ve got more time on your hands, stay awhile and enjoy your goodies at one of the market’s outdoor tables. The market is open from 7:30am-7pm daily.

Canoe Club

Canoe Club combines a classy and intricate wooden interior with elevated views of the May River, ensuring an exquisite dining experience for Palmetto Bluff Club members and their guests. Specializing in seafood, you can’t go wrong with any of the restaurant’s fresh menu items, such as South Carolina grouper, scallops, and more. If you’re not a seafood eater, don’t fret; Canoe Club’s meat options are also local and delicious. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday from 5-9pm, and reservations are recommended.

Canteen

For a casual yet high-quality meal, head over to Canteen in Moreland Village. Choose from their grab-and-go selections or order off of their lunch menu – you can’t go wrong either way! Their options are fresh, simple, and the perfect fuel for a day of exploring Palmetto Bluff. Canteen is open from 9am-3pm daily.

Fore & Aft

The patio at Fore & Aft puts you right in the heart of nature, surrounded by sunshine, the water, and lounging birds. This lunch spot provides Mexican style food with an idyllic view every day from 11am-3pm (beverages are still offered until 5pm). Some fish tacos with a signature cocktail make for an ideal lunch at this refreshing spot.
