Spring 2022 is just around the corner, and the Lowcountry will soon be bustling with activity from tourists visiting from all over the world to enjoy its famous cuisine and culture. As the weather warms up and the days get longer, there are so many fun things to do in the area. Whether you’re in town with family or friends or traveling solo, here are some events worth checking out while you’re here.

Hilton Head Wingfest

Hilton Head’s Annual Wingfest brings together a number of local restaurants, live music and entertainment, and one epic eating competition. Wing lovers will be able to sample from dozens of wing options—including specialty sauces and varying heat levels—while enjoying drinks, live music, activities for kids, and more. This two-day event allows restaurants to compete for the title of “The Best Wings in Town,” and one wing lover will also be crowned as “The Wing Eating Champion!” This exciting event is set to take place on March 19th at the Lowcountry Celebration Park in Hilton Head Island. Whether you’re looking to support your favorite local restaurant or win bragging rights as Charleston’s hottest wing eater, you’re sure to enjoy all that Wingfest has to offer!

Celebrity Paws in the Park

Celebrate spring with your four-legged friends at this fun-filled event! This year’s Celebrity Paws in the Park fundraiser will be held on March 19th at Riverfront Park in North Charleston.  The event begins with a 5K Run known as “Race for the Rescues,” where dog lovers can participate in a race while raising funds to support local pups in need!  There will also be doggie agility courses, Dock Dogs® diving competition, and other interactive areas that let you enjoy the festivities  with your four-legged pal. The proceeds benefit Charleston Animal Society (CAS), a local nonprofit that provides low-cost spay/neuter services in addition to humane education programs and assistance for abandoned dogs throughout South Carolina

Port Royal Farmers Market

Located on Pinckney Boulevard in Port Royal, the Port Royal Farmers Market–held every Saturday morning from 9-12 year-round–features fresh produce, local and organic foods, and a variety of specialty products. Here market patrons will find an abundance of locally grown fruits and vegetables including strawberries, eggplant, okra, blackberries, sweet potatoes, and more. Guests are invited to sit down and enjoy live music while vendors sell their crafts and food trucks offer a tasty meal nearby. Attending Port Royal Farmers Market is a great way to spend time with friends or family while supporting South Carolina farmers and small businesses in the Lowcountry.

Charleston Wine + Food Festival

The Charleston Wine + Food Festival, held annually in March, is one of South Carolina’s largest food and wine events. Festival attendees include local chefs, vintners, artisans as well as chefs from around the country. This week-long event showcases local cuisine and curated wine selections while promoting tourism to Charleston. The signature event includes a multi-course meal prepared by a host of chef participants. Events also feature special dinners showcasing regional cuisine. This year’s festival will be held at numerous venues along Upper King Street featuring dozens of participating chefs. The RBC Heritage is a PGA Tour event that has been held annually in Hilton Head since 1969. Those lucky enough to attend will get a chance to catch some of golf’s greatest players in action as they compete against each other as a total of $8 million will be on the line. Visitors will experience the beautiful weather of spring in the Lowcountry while also taking advantage of seasonal specials offered by local hotels, restaurants, and retailers. If you’re ready for beautiful coastal views, a comfortable stay, and a chance to see some of the best golfers in the country, make sure to add the 54th annual RBC Heritage to your calendar!

Harbour Town Spring Fest

If you’re dreaming of visiting Hilton Head this spring, there’s no better way to see everything the island has to offer than by attending the Harbour Town Spring Fest. This event takes place on  March 20th and is a day full of entertainment and events. It’s a great chance for residents and visitors alike to celebrate spring “Lowcountry-style!” From boat rides and seaside dining to children’s activities and a sidewalk sale, it’s a festival that every age level will enjoy.
